🌱 Telehealth F2F Flexibility Extended Through 2027

Great news for home health agencies, ordering providers, and clinicians alike!

We’re happy to share an important regulatory update that brings much-needed stability to home health operations: the telehealth flexibility for Face-to-Face (F2F) encounters has officially been signed into law and extended through December 31, 2027.

What This Means

Home health agencies may continue to utilize audio and video telehealth visits to satisfy the Medicare Face-to-Face encounter requirement, as permitted under federal regulations. This extension preserves access to care while allowing agencies to maintain compliant certification and documentation workflows.

For many agencies, this means fewer disruptions, improved scheduling flexibility, and continued ability to serve patients who face barriers to in-person visits.

Important Compliance Reminders

While the extension is welcome news, all core F2F and certification requirements remain unchanged. Agencies should continue to ensure:

• The F2F encounter is timely and directly related to the primary reason the patient requires home health services
   
• The encounter is properly documented and supports medical necessity
   
• All certification and Plan of Care requirements under 42 CFR §484.2 are fully met
   
• Documentation clearly reflects provider awareness of the F2F encounter and authorization of home health services
